Since July 2009 Te Maru o Rereahu Trust, Trustees have been negotiating with the Crown, to settle grievances relating to the Maraeroa A & B Blocks on behalf of the descendants of the original owners of the blocks. A settlement offer in respect of those grievances has now been received from the Crown and accepted by the Trustees for tabling with the registered beneficiaries of the Maraeroa A & B Blocks for their considerationand decision.
The descendants of the original owners are of Ngati Rereahu, Ngati Raukawa, Ngati Maniapoto, Ngati Tuwharetoa and other neighbouring iwi. Claims that have been lodged with the Waitangi tribunal and which may have an interest in the Maraeroa A & B Blocks Settlement include Wai numbers: 329, 389, 443, 575, 630, 729, 1137, 1138, 1230, 1309, 1435, 1599, 1640, 1704 and 1894.
Potential and registered beneficiaries are invited to attend the Crown Offer and Mandating Hui as notified below for the purpose of considering:
Registered beneficiaries will be asked to vote on whether to accept or decline these proposals.

PLEASE NOTE: Registrations received on the day of the hui will not be eligible for voting as they need to be processed and validated first. Registration forms are available on our website and must be received at our office within 48 hours of the commencement of each hui. Full details of the proposed settlement are posted on the site also and the newsletter with full details of the Crown offer is also posted to all registered beneficiaries over the next two weeks.
Any person, who whakapapa to one of the original owners named in the Maori Land Court records of 1886 and 1891 is identified as a beneficiary of the Maraeroa A & B Blocks. For further information or to request Owners Lists and/or Registration forms, contact:
